Amarena black cherries are a variety of cherry characterized by its sour and tart flavor. Its flowering tree is definitely one of nature’s best spectacles during the spring season.

Once detached from the branch, sour cherries should unfortunately be consumed within a few days because they tend to wither and degrade quickly. Fear not, through drying, Makadamia gives you the chance to enjoy them all year round!

It is said that it was Lucius Licinius Lucullus, the Roman gourmand famous for his abundant “Lucullan” banquets, who first discovered the goodness of these fruits during a trip to Asia Minor. Since then, black cherries have been a constant presence on the tables of Italians during the months of May and June.

Taste and texture: The distinguishing characteristic of sour cherries is their sour and tart taste. This makes them ideal for use in culinary preparations where a touch of acidity is desired. The fruit’s tart notes are diluted by the sweet taste of apple juice. The texture is soft and juicy.

Use in the kitchen: Black cherries are very versatile and can be eaten whole, such as for cake decorations or as an ingredient in salads, or more commonly as a natural sweetener for low-fat yogurt. We at Makadamia, for example, use them as a topping for our oatmeal.

La nostra frutta disidratata è da considerarsi come la fresca, in quanto priva di additivi o zuccheri aggiunti.

Infatti contiene tutti i nutrienti del frutto originale, al quale viene però tolto circa il 90% dell’acqua tramite essiccazione.

Questo vuol dire che 40 g di frutta disidratata, che è un’ottima porzione giornaliera, corrispondono circa a 300/350 g del suo corrispettivo fresco.

Un esempio? 40 grammi della nostra mela disidratata corrispondono in media a 2 mele fresche.

I momenti più indicati per consumare la frutta disidratata sono, come per la fresca, sicuramente negli spuntini lontani dai pasti principali. In questo modo la frutta verrà digerita ed assimilata al meglio.

Tutta la nostra frutta disidratata NON contiene zuccheri aggiunti, ma solo quelli originari del frutto.

Crediamo fortemente che non abbia bisogno di alcuna aggiunta di zuccheri né per il gusto, né per la conservazione. Ha infatti un sapore abbastanza dolce di per sé.

La nostra frutta disidratata viene prodotta partendo dal frutto fresco originale, senza aggiunta di additivi, farine o zuccheri.

La frutta disidratata è naturalmente priva di glutine. Tuttavia all’interno del nostro stabilimento vengono trattati prodotti contenenti glutine, percui potrebbe verificarsi cross contamination.

Non c’è alcuna differenza, sono sinonimi. La frutta disidratata/essiccata è la frutta fresca a cui viene tolto circa il 90% d’acqua tramite essiccazione.

L’essiccazione rimuove circa il 90% d’acqua dal frutto per poterne permettere la conservazione a lungo. Questo processo potrebbe rendere il frutto più duro. Se risulta troppo duro per i tuoi gusti, puoi ammorbidirlo lasciandolo in infusione in acqua bollente per 10/15 minuti.
