The raspberry, beloved of the Goddess Aphrodite, was introduced to Italy by the ancient Roman people from the Greek islands. It grows mainly in open spaces and spreads rapidly. It is an aggregate fruit consisting of about a hundred drupes.
It has a sweet and slightly tart flavor with a soft and delicate texture. Used for aesthetic garnishes or as a natural sweetener (for yogurt, for example). It is rich in lutein, potassium, vitamin C and calcium.
