Dates have been an important part of the diet in many ancient civilizations, including those of the Babylonians, the ancient Egyptians, and the Romans.

But Dates are not all the same….

In addition to the quality of the fruit itself, there are two types: hard-fleshed and soft-fleshed.

The Medjoul Diamond Makadamia Dates are among the largest and qualitatively superior among the spring-fleshed ones.

But exactly why are they different?

Compared to other dates on the market, they are a variety of dates known for their generous size, soft and juicy texture, and sweet and caramelized taste, but with no added sugar.

They are so sweet that you can easily make a syrup from them, a vegan alternative to honey!

Also perfect as treats to go with a good black tea, for a healthy, rejuvenating and… naturally sweet!

Nutritionally, dates behave like a real fruit:

Few proteins and many carbohydrates, mainly sugars naturally contained in the fruit. They are also very rich in minerals, among which Potassium stands out above all. The presence of carbohydrates and potassium makes them an ideal snack for those who need an energy boost.

With this fruit you can combat your moments of fatigue with a unique sweetness.

The Fiber content is also excellent, so much so that the combination of fiber and sugar helps keep you full longer.

Date syrup (or honey), is definitely a great recipe to try:

You just pit 500 g of dates and put them in the pressure cooker.

Pour in the water, which should always be twice the weight of the pitted dates.

Close and bring to a boil. At the whistle move to the small stove on low and let cook 1 hour. Possibly in regular pot cook 2 hours checking that the water does not evaporate too much.

This is not the only quick and easy recipe you can make with these fantastic fruits! Here are some ideas:

  • Date and Goat Cheese Salad: Add chopped dates to a mixed salad and garnish with crumbled goat cheese and walnuts. Dress with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for a richly flavored salad.
  • Energizing Smoothie: Mix dates, banana, almonds, Greek yogurt and a little honey. This smoothie is a delicious and nutritious option for breakfast or an energy snack.
  • Date Oatmeal Cookies: Add chopped dates to a classic oatmeal cookie recipe. They will help make the cookies softer and sweeter.
  • Date and Walnut Cake: Add chopped dates and walnuts to a cake mix for a sweet variation. You can also make a date caramel frosting to cover the cake.

Frequently asked questions and tips

Our dehydrated fruit should be considered the same as fresh fruit in that it has no additives or added sugars. In fact, it contains all the nutrients of the original fruit, from which, however, around 90% of the water is removed by drying.

This means that 40 g of dehydrated fruit, which is an excellent daily portion, corresponds to about 300/350 g of its fresh counterpart.
An example? 40 g of our dehydrated apple corresponds on average to 2 fresh apples.

The best times to eat dehydrated fruit are, as with fresh fruit, certainly at snacks away from the main meals. This way, the fruit will be better digested and assimilated.

All our dehydrated fruit does NOT contain added sugars, only those originating from the fruit.

We strongly believe that it does not need any added sugar either for taste or for storage. In fact, it tastes sweet enough on its own.

Our dehydrated fruit is produced from the original fresh fruit, without the addition of additives, flours or sugars.

Dehydrated fruit is naturally gluten-free. However, products containing gluten are processed in our factory, so cross contamination may occur.

There is no difference, they are synonymous. Dehydrated/dried fruit is fresh fruit from which approximately 90% water is removed by drying.

Drying process removes about 90 percent water from the fruit in order to allow it to be stored for a long time. This process may make the fruit harder. If it turns out too hard for your taste, you can soften it by letting it steep in boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes.
